A non-profit chorus, Capital City Chorus is self funded, with the majority if revenue directed to the running of the chorus.  We would very much appreciate the sponsorship of any company willing to provide us with financial support, or even just to help fund a particular expense.

A portion of the funds we raise through direct fundraising activities (singing valentines) as well as ticket sales to our shows is set aside to support three charities:
  • "Harmonize for Speech”  (H4S) is the Ontario Barbershoppers’ own charitable fund, headquartered in Toronto.  “H4S” receives applications and approves grants throughout the year to purchase equipment for settings providing services in Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology and to fund scholarships for students in those fields. The motto of “H4S”, expressed in a song of the same title, is “We Sing That They Shall Speak”. Individual Chapters (including the Capital City Chorus) volunteer and frequently partner and donate their services to help raise funds for other local charities. Over four million dollars have been raised by Ontario Barbershop members and we are proud of the fact that administration costs average only 2% per year. The Capital City Chorus has helped raise funds towards speech equipment to facilities in Ottawa through this foundation.
  • Sing Canada Harmony Scholarship Fund”  is a registered charity created to provide financial assistance for educational and training opportunities in singing vocal music performance, vocal music leadership, vocal music administration and vocal music composition, arrangement, adjudication and staging.  Sing Canada Harmony will fund learning opportunities for Canadians, particularly young people, to gain expertise and experience in the field of a cappella vocal music, harmony singing, in quartets and choruses. www.singcanadaharmony.ca
  • “Camp Smitty”.   For over 20 years now, the Capital City Chorus has been involved with the Ottawa Boys and Girls Club, a non-profit organization, which specializes in after-school, week-end and summer programs for children 6-18 years old. We provide manpower for one week-end every year in September at Camp Smitty.   There we repair, paint and even build new    installations at one of the Club’s facilities at the camp. This is one of the highlights of our Chorus’ year.  The fellowship between our members is at its best!!!  Lots of work gets accomplished, but tons of singing and enjoyment takes place there every year as well!
A corporate sponsor would assist us greatly with our operating expenses.  For physical assets, we are in need of new choral risers, chorus outfits, music, and sound equipment (to name a few).  Other operating expenses include our typical admin costs (phone, web presence, chorus management software licenses, copyright fees), and we have one paid individual on staff (our music director).  The management board is composed of volunteers from the chorus membership.

If this is something you would be interested in considering, we would welcome the opportunity to further this discussion with you.  For more details please contact our VP Marketing - VPMarketing@capitalcitychorus.org
